????很多科技公司都想發起一場技術革命，但是很少能獲得上一波技術革命領導者的支持。馬薩諸塞州劍橋市的NuoDB公司卻一舉網羅了上一波數據庫革命“四大天王”的其中之三——Ingres公司前CEO加理?摩根泰勒、Sybase公司前CEO米切爾?克茲曼、Informix公司前CEO羅杰?斯普爾。只有最后一名“天王”，也就是甲骨文（Oracle）的CEO棄權了，但他也身在投資人之列。這么一家名不見經傳的公司何以有這么大的號召力？因為NuoDB的技術解決了一個多年來被行業視為“圣杯”的問題：如何讓一個數據庫在多個服務器上運行。“關鍵在于用更多的機器，而不是更大的機器。”該公司CEO巴里?莫里斯表示：“那個問題聽起來雖然簡單，但一直沒得到解決。”DuoDB公司成立于2010年，現在這家公司已經簽下了一個大客戶——歐洲第二大軟件廠商達索系統公司（Dassault Systèmes）。另外莫里斯認為，公司正在飛速朝著一個“新的聚焦點”邁進。他認為DuoDB將走上舞臺的中央。“它的意義不在于數據的規模或運行速度，而在于形成一種數據導向型模式。持續改進的能力才是它的革命性所在。”——Andrew Nusca

????Many technology companies promise to spark a revolution, but very few have the backing of the leaders of the previous one. Cambridge, Mass.-based NuoDB counts three of the four horsemen of the previous database wave—former Ingres Corp. CEO Gary Morgenthaler, former Sybase Inc. CEO Mitchell Kertzman, and former Informix Software CEO Roger Sippl, with only a certain Oracle chief executive abstaining—as investors. Why? Because NuoDB’s technology solves a problem that many industry veterans long considered to be the Holy Grail: run a database on multiple servers. “It’s about more machines, not bigger machines,” CEO Barry Morris says. “That problem, simple as it sounds, was as yet unsolved.” First funded in 2010, Morris’ company recently landed a massive customer—DassaultSystèmes, the second-largest software vendor in Europe—and is hurtling toward what Morris calls “a new convergence point.” He’s convinced NuoDB will be at the center of it. “It’s not about size or speed of the data.
